Efforts to enhance corporate governance cannot be limited to regulators alone, but should be all-inclusive, with investigators, police, prosecutors and courts having an important role to play.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the spate of financial scandals over the past few years had brought home the point that good corporate governance was an important matter that could not be left to the regulators alone.
“The regulatory framework for good corporate governance must be continuously refined and updated to meet the changing needs of enterprise and to ensure that the regulatory burden does not stifle businesses and choke the entrepreneurial spirit.
