Ethical investments are in vogue
The governments of China and the US may still be wrangling over who should pay to clean up carbon emissions, but in the investment world taking responsibility for environmental and social issues has never been more popular.
Latest sales figures from the Investment Management Association (IMA) show that there has been a huge leap in the amount put into ethical funds in the last year.
And investors are not just putting their money into stocks and shares. The past few years have seen the emergence of ethical funds in a range of asset classes. You can now put put your money in ethical bond, property and hedge funds and even spread betting.
The trend towards socially-responsible investment is unlikely to experience a slowdown just yet, say advisers and fund management groups. In the past few months more major financial institutions have set up their own ethical funds.
