Brussels steps up protectionism crackdown

The European Commission will on Tuesday intensify its crackdown on countries that impose illegal restrictions on foreign gambling companies and the legal profession, as part of its wider campaign to rid the market of protectionism.

Brussels will target France, Sweden and Greece for protecting domestic gambling and sports betting monopolies, and trying to shut out competition from private operators in other EU member states.
