Want to be green and happy? Move to Iceland
If you want to live a long, happy and “green life” – move to Iceland.
That’s the finding of a survey of European countries to decide which delivers the best conditions for its citizens.
The European (Un) Happy Planet Index (HPI) is based on a formula which measures human well-being against the cost to the environment – its carbon footprint.

The UK came lowly 21st in the league of 30 countries, behind France and Germany overall, with emerging economies such as Slovakia, Lithuania and Bulgaria doing worse. Estonia was ranked bottom.
For life expectancy and life satisfaction, the UK fared marginally better, reaching the mid table position of 15th for both.
Britons can expect to live to an average 78.4 years when contentment is taken into account along with physical welfare.
In the life satisfaction table Denmark came top with Bulgaria bottom.
