Nigeria group in Search of Corporate Governance


THE proper functioning of corporations in Nigeria has been negatively influenced by policies and practices that leads to poor delivery.

This poor delivery is postulated to have informed the belief in some quarters that the everyday challenges of Nigeria's fledgling democracy demands for defined and acceptable practices because the effects of poor corporate governance could be devastating on the general society. In its efforts at putting in perspective the handy challenges of corporate governance in Nigeria, Aelex Legal Practitioners and Arbitrators, organised its third annual lecture, titled "Corporate Governance: Who profits?" recently in Lagos.

No doubt that the topic of the lecture would lead to speedy interpretations on the minds of many. This is against the backdrop of the general belief in Nigeria that those at the helm of affairs are usually the larger beneficiaries of the dividends of corporate governance.
