Users of corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports are being invited to vote for the most effective reports, with two new awards schemes announced this week.
Corporate Register (CR), which runs a free online depository of almost 15,000 CSR reports on www.corporateregister.com is inviting its 20,000 registered users to vote in the CR Reporting Awards 2007.
Companies that published reports between 1 October 2006 and 30 September 2007 can nominate themselves for a range of awards, including: best overall report; best first-time report; best SME report; and best integrated report (combining financial and SCR data). In addition, there will be awards for different aspects of transparency in reporting, under the following categories: best carbon reporting; creativity in communications; relevance and materiality; openness and honesty; and credibility through assurance.
The winners are due to be announced at a conference in March.
Meanwhile, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) announced plans to launch its own reporting awards. Slated for launch on 1 October, no details of the categories of voting for the GRI Readers' Choice Award were disclosed.
