How to.... reduce your carbon footprint
For months now, PM and the CIPD have been championing the lead HR can take in helping organisations to “go green”. The term “carbon footprint” is now common parlance and usually brings to mind foreign air travel and “Chelsea tractors”. But it applies equally to your workplace, which is arguably an even more important area in the fight to reduce climate change. In most offices the workforce is the single largest contributor to carbon emissions, and modifying employees’ behaviour can often hold the key to reducing emissions. HR has a significant role to play in changing workforce behaviours, which will reduce your organisation’s carbon footprint. And this doesn’t only help the environment – in many cases it will save your organisation money too. So what steps can HR take to make a difference?
