
Amid growing awareness about the implications of climate change, large corporations have started taking action to reduce their carbon footprints, according to a report to be released today.
The report is the fifth from the Carbon Disclosure Project, a London-based collaboration of 315 global institutional investors. Set up in 2000, the project represents one of the most comprehensive attempts by investors to seek information about climate change and greenhouse-gas emissions in order to gauge the potential impact on companies' bottom lines. The report focused on the world's 500 largest publicly traded companies by stock-market value, although it relied on results from companies that chose to respond. In the latest survey, 77% responded, up from 72% a year earlier.
