Social responsibility rising at work

Corporate social responsibility manager? That seems to be a job growth area, according to a report.

It was a position virtually unheard of 10 years ago, but more companies are now appointing people to run CSR programs to connect with communities, groups and stakeholders and improve the reputation of the business.

It is estimated there are about 300 CSR managers in Australia. It is also estimated that 60 CSR positions will be created at 60 organisations over the next year. The positions also include sustainability and partnership managers.

With about 80 per cent employed at manager level, the job is well paid. According to a report, about half the CSR officers around Australia are on $80,000-$150,000 a year and about 4 per cent are on $250,000 a year. Only 1.6 per cent were on less than $40,000 a year.
