Country Risk Management

Oxford Analytica, in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers, undertook a major study of the practices and methodologies of major international banks for assessing sovereign risk. The research consisted primarily of detailed interviews carried out within approximately 15 participating institutions based in Europe and North America. The results of the research were presented in a study that focused on:

* Recent changes in the nature of risk
* Current practices in risk assessment methodology
* How risk assessment, risk policy and risk management should be integrated
* The impact of the regulatory framework

A set of ‘best practices’ was developed with the active engagement of the participating institutions. The conclusions of the report were discussed in a seminar in Oxford attended by the participating banks.
