Taking steps toward a greener planet


Consumers in the United States and Britain are not only aware of global warming and threats to the environment, but are also worried about it and taking steps to change the way they live and what they buy as a result.

Buzzback Market Research in New York City conducted an online survey of over 1,100 consumers in the two countries. The survey was done before Earth Day to learn how consumers feel about environmentalism and "being green," and how they are changing their lives to be more environmentally conscious.

In both countries, more than 70 percent said they actively used energy- efficient light bulbs, recycled paper and recycled plastic. About half also said they purchased recycled paper and recycled products. In fact, more U.S. consumers made these kinds of purchases than their counterparts in Britain.
