
Corporate governance standards in Australia’s biggest 250 companies are deteriorating, with resources companies among the worst performers, according to a new survey.
The 2009 WHK Horwath Corporate Governance Report said WA accounted for nearly half of companies attracting the lowest possible rating for governance performance.
Giralia Resources, Murchison Metals and Mantra Resources were among the WA companies to get a one-star rating from the survey’s authors. Of 14 companies given a onestar rating, six were based in WA.
By comparison, none of the 39 companies to receive the top rating of five stars were based in WA.
