While preparing the accounts of a window-cleaner client, I came across a copy of an application which he recently filled in to get comprehensive insurance on his new van. I noticed that he had not disclosed the fact that he spent a week in jail 2 years ago following an incident with a neighbour. I am told by my brother who works for an insurance company that this omission renders his van insurance invalid and means that he is driving illegally, ie without insurance cover. This is clearly outside my terms of reference as the person's accountant, but should I take any action?
