Everyone running America's biggest businesses will be talking about innovation as the way out of the hard times of the past couple of years. Everyone won't necessarily agree on what the word "innovation" means, but they'll feel certain it's what they need most if they're to have business plans that work and that get them and keep them ahead of the competition as the economy improves.

There will be more CEO turnover, not less, in 2010, as opportunities open up with recovery and top bosses get restless at the businesses they shepherded through hard times. Research has shown that the peak of CEO turnover happens after a recession ends, not during it, so expect musical chairs at the top.
