The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) expects more UK managers to focus on workforce engagement in the coming year.
Ruth Spellman, chief executive of the CMI, said there has been "some shift away from the numbers and figures approach to management" as more businesses seek to put their staff back to the heart of their operations.
Ms Spellman's comments support the findings of a two-year study by the Work Foundation, published last week, which argued that a people-centred approach to leadership results in outstanding performance.
