The SEC At A Crossroads


The recharged regulatory agency under Mary L. Schapiro faces multiple mandates as she enters her second year as chairman.

The sharpened focus of the Securities and Exchange Commission under Chairman Mary L. Schapiro may well be the single most important shift in the corporate governance landscape this year. The SEC is, in effect, asking board directors not just what they can do for their company, but what they can do for their country.
