Legal compliance doesn't equal competence
I try very hard to be legal. Very hard. A fact made evident by my faithful following of Oregon's newest driving law, which states that you can only use a cell phone if you use a hands-free device that allows you to keep both hands on the wheel while you are driving. (If having both hands on the wheel is the issue, they really should outlaw 42 oz. Diet Pepsis, but that would affect me directly, so forget I said anything.)
I use a Bluetooth wireless device that allows me to talk on the phone while keeping both hands securely on the steering wheel (at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock, thank you very much). According to Wikipedia, “A Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances (using short length radio waves) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs).”
Since I have no earthly idea what that means, I'll put it simply for you: It's that thingy that hooks over your ear and makes you look like you should be taking orders in a McDonald's drive-through.
