The workshop will bring regional and international experts from stock exchanges, commercial banks, brokers and asset management firms to exchange experiences and ideas on the establishment and expansion of carbon markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Financial institutions will share their national, regional and/or international perspectives on the challenges and opportunities to developing carbon financial instruments and expanding carbon markets in Latin America.
The objectives of the event are: (i) to assess and evaluate the main challenges and opportunities faced by carbon markets; (ii) to analyze and discuss the principal carbon financial instruments; (iii) to discuss the role of commercial banks, brokers, asset management firms and regional stock exchanges in carbon markets; (iv) to promote the development of financial mechanisms to expand carbon markets in Latin America; and (v) to help define the strategic lines of action for the region’s financial institutions.
