Gender pay gap in IT widens to a chasm


More bad news for the sector as new figures show male/female salary discrepancies

Female workers entering the IT industry still face huge discrepancies in pay in comparison to their male counterparts, according to a new study by the Chartered Management Institute and human resources firm XpertHR.

The 2010 National Management Salary Survey found that women entering the IT services industry can expect to find average pay gaps in certain roles running to as high as £17,736, the highest difference in any industry included in the report.
