Tasmania's Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has begun assessing a $1.2 billion wind farm proposed for north west Tasmania.
The owners of Robbins Island, west of Smithton, want to install up to 220 wind turbines on its western side.
Key issues identified by the EPA include potential effects on flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
