The Bigger the Network, the Greater the Responsibility


Globalization means that companies today have to manage thousands of suppliers on different levels, including those hired by subcontractors. Products pass through so many different hands during the manufacturing and distribution stages that it is extremely difficult for a company to control the environmental and social consequences of each and every player.

But ultimately, the buck stops with the end corporation. Companies, therefore, must learn to integrate environmental and social standards in the management of their supply chains. Granted, maintaining a value chain in which responsibility is the overriding factor is a complex task.
