New Global Warming Reports show success...to a degree
With great interest I read a new report about the latest greenhouse gas emissions reports called for by the Kyoto agreement. While many member states of Europe are celebrating the achievements, some analysts are saying that the global warming pollution has simply been exported from Europe to other manufacturing countries.
On balance the EU states look well-positioned to exceed targets that were set many years ago, the overriding question is whether that same success can possibly be replicated on a global basis. The European environment agency compiled reports that showed as of the end of last year 27 member countries have reduced emissions by over 17% since 1990, the original pledge at that time was to reduce emissions by 20% before the year 2020 with looks well within grasp.
