Europe’s biggest economy scores poorly in a ranking of fairness
GERMANY'S federal statistics office is expected to announce on Wednesday January 12th that its economy grew by 3.7% in 2010. The country's position in a ranking of countries by social justice, an umbrella term that includes everything from poverty to access to education, is less shiny. According to a new study (currently available only in German) published by the Bertelsmann Foundation, Germany ranks only 15th among the 31 OECD countries in the index, which is derived from 25 separate indicators.
