Pearson chief Marjorie Scardino questions fixation with female board
Dame Marjorie Scardino, one of the FTSE 100's most high-profile female executives, has said business should not become too fixated with gender in the boardroom.
"I have a hard time believing there's a generic female impact on anything," said the chief executive of Pearson, the owner of the Financial Times and Penguin. "We don't need more women in the boardroom. We need more women in the top ranks of companies."

The Pearson chief executive's comments come as a government review by Lord Davies has called for 25pc female board representation by 2015. She outlines that diversity on all levels, not simply gender, is important in the boardroom and executive positions.
