The Victorian Government says the carbon tax will cost jobs and threaten the state's electricity supplies.
The package, unveiled by the Federal Government in Canberra yesterday, will seek to close Australia's dirtiest power stations by 2020.
The Government has not named which stations it wants to close but the Hazelwood power station, in the Latrobe Valley, is expected to be the first to go.
