Apple probe sweatshops

APPLE has launched an “unprecedented” probe into sweatshop conditions at Chinese factories churning out iPads and iPhones.

The US giant yesterday hired an American not-for-profit agency to draw a line under a growing controversy over how its products are made.

Inspectors will check two sites in Shenzhen and Chengdu — run by controversial Chinese manufacturer FOXCONN. Chinese staff at the company have committed suicide over working conditions.
