Plan to force reporting of emissions stalls

Plans to force companies to declare the size of their greenhouse gas emissions have been put on hold and could even be abolished, the environment minister will tell parliament this week, raising fresh questions over the government’s commitment to fighting climate change.

Caroline Spelman will say she has not made a decision on whether to introduce mandatory reporting requirements on companies’ carbon emissions, missing a deadline that has been in place for the last four years.
