Gender pay gap statistics

Inequality in pay between men and women remains high in Europe. Moreover, the impact of pay gaps can be far-reaching, as lower pay increases the risk of financial dependence not only during working life, but also implies lower pensions and thus an increased risk of poverty during old age. Hence, the unadjusted gender pay pap (GPG) is an important indicator used within the European Employment Strategy (EES) to monitor imbalances in wages between men and women. See Page.
