In the world of TV, women don’t get a fair deal - especially after they have left their thirties. The BBC was at the centre of an ageism row after Strictly judge Arlene Philips (66) was replaced by Alesha Dixon (30). Moira Stewart famously quit following rumours that she was unhappy with the way she was being sidelined as she approached her sixties. And Miriam O’Reilly forced director general George Entwistle to apologise after she won an age discrimination case against the BBC after being dropped from Countryfile.
