If you have ever had a conversation with a farmer who grows corn, soybeans or any other “food staple” – frequently you will hear the line “we are feeding the world” or its alternative, “you can’t feed the world with organics.”
This is perhaps one of the biggest myths of commercial agriculture, and a new website dedicated to “busting” such rhetoric launched this week. Food MythBusters is spearheaded by Anna Lappé, Corporate Accountability International, and a coalition of groups working for sustainable agriculture including Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. It aims to produce “creative videos, online resources, and grassroots events that tell the real story about the food we eat.”
