The OECD and the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote respect by multinational enterprises of the new human rights chapter of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (the Guidelines) and the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights upon which the Guidelines are based.
The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises are the most comprehensive corporate code of conduct developed by governments in existence today. They cover all major areas of business ethics and apply to enterprises responsible for 85% of international investment. The Guidelines has a unique implementation mechanism that aims to resolve issues arising from the non-observance of the Guidelines.
