In a context of ecological and economic instability, governments will need to start thinking of new ways to deliver wellbeing and meet key society goals with fewer resources. This will need to be done in a way that does not increase our vulnerability. The natural environment provides a solution to this challenge, reconciling economic and ecological objectives.
