The Conference of the Parties, at its eighteenth session, underlined the importance of promoting gender balance and improving the participation of women in UNFCCC negotiations and in the representation of Parties in bodies established pursuant to the Convention or the Kyoto Protocol. This event, to be held on Gender Day, will provide an opportunity for influential women leaders, from government, international agencies, private sector and civil society, to engage in a "big picture" conversation on the topic of Women for Action on Climate Change.
The panellists will be envisioning a way forward to a sustainable future by creating a vision statement that will highlight what is needed to fully empower women to be drivers of change. It will aim to inspire women and men, at all levels, to bring forth a world transformed by concrete action on climate change.
The in-session high-level event under the Conference of the Parties will take place in the conference premises in Warsaw, on Tuesday, 19 November 2013 from 11:30 to 13:00. The event will be open to Parties and observers. The provisional programme and additional information on the event will be announced on the UNFCCC website soon.
