
The deadly collapse of a textile factory in Bangladesh, which killed at least 1,100 people, provoked global outrage. Consumers quickly rallied behind social media platforms such as Change.org of the Avaaz Foundation to petition retailers to guarantee better workplace conditions. Some Western clothing chains responded by promising to compensate the families of the victims and to sign contracts refusing to work with factories that ignored the safety of their workers. Despite this public outcry, will anything really change, or will things go back to "business as usual" once the dust settles on this crisis?
