European and African ministers today reiterated their commitment to close cooperation on climate change. They issued a joint statement after a high-level climate seminar organised in the margins of the EU-Africa Summit on 2-3 April 2014. The seminar was hosted by EU Climate Action Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, the President of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) Binilith Mahenge, and the African Union Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture Rhoda Tumusiime.
Climate change is one of the eight priority areas of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy, which provides the overarching long-term framework for Africa-EU relations.
