Independent Audit Limited produced a report on Audit Committee practices:

A study of changes in US audit committee practice and the possible implications for SEC-registered UK companies.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act puts audit committees at the centre of efforts to reduce the risk of failures in financial reporting and controls. It enforces more onerous obligations and increases the personal risks for directors. In its wake, US audit committee practice is changing quickly.
