Companies will spend about $15.5 billion on compliance this year, according to recent research from AMR.
Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) is drawing the lion's share of spending, at around 40 percent. Next comes HIPAA (24 percent), SEC compliance 98 percent), and FDA compliance (7 percent). The remaining 21 percent falls in the "other" category (including Basel II and the TREAD Act).
