Brait Sparks Concern On Governance

Investment house Brait's decision to replace its non-executive chairman, Mervyn King, with its previous CEO, Antony Ball, has reawakened debate on whether South African companies view corporate governance as a soft issue.

Last week, Brait announced Ball's move to an executive chairman role to make way for a new CEO, JPMorgan's country head John Coulter. This seemingly flies in the face of SA's pre- eminent document on corporate governance, the King code.
