Headhunters put the board under scrutiny

Executive recruiters are using behavioural experts to assess how well a company's directors work together. But some fear a conflict of interest, writes Jenny Hirschorn

With the recognition that businesses rise or fall on the strength of their people, organisations are increasingly keen to ensure that they identify and nurture the strengths - or, indeed, tackle the weaknesses - of their key management.

Add to that the corporate governance obligations put on companies by the likes of Higgs in the UK and Sarbanes-Oxley in America and the need for professional human capital management at the highest levels becomes clear.
