Telephone canvassing of shareholders is on the rise, but there are limits to its use, reports Michelle Innis.

It's either a sign that small shareholders are finally getting the recognition they deserve, or corporate advisers have gone overboard on consultation. But one thing is certain: telephone canvassing of retail investors is here to stay.

"It is on the increase," says the Australian Shareholders Association's (ASA) chief executive, Stuart Wilson.
