A GOOD friend of mine once told me, in not so many words, that a woman's involvement in ensuring peace in our land makes a significant difference, one that would result to a more positive outcome in peace talks.
This is based on the fact that we, who are used to being in the middle of our children's fights, are used to applying calm and sensible means of re-establishing brotherhood and friendship. Nurturing, caring and teaching our children to be loving and honorable are qualities innate in us. These strengths of a woman, benefiting millions of families, can touch more lives if pooled together for our nation-building and peacekeeping efforts.
The campaigns of the Mindanao Commission of Women (MCW), an organization composed of women leaders all over the region, are all centered on poverty reduction, promotion of peace and multiculturalism, and advocates responsiveness and transparency in politics and governance.
