Bank Of Italy Responds To EU On ABN Amro & Antonveneta

Amazingly, the Bank of Italy continues with its farce that it maintains an open financial system in Italy! It is receiving deserved criticism and close monitoring from the European Commission, very important right now that two takeovers are in process of Italian banks by non-Italian banks.

The problem for Antonio Fazio, Governor of the Bank of Italy, is that these non-Italian banks come from the European Union and, as a consequence, are not supposed to be treated differently by the Authorities of other European countries.

It will be interesting to see how these two deals come out.
