JIC introduces corporate governance ratings for quoted companies

In its bid to enhance efficiency of the financial and business operations of quoted companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), JIC Governance Ratings, a pioneer corporate governance rating agency in Nigeria is set to rate top 80 quoted companies in order to guide investors make positive investment decision.

Addressing newsmen Monday, the Managing Director/CEO of Maxifund Investments & Securities Limited, Maxi Okechukwu Unegbu said that good corporate governance practices enhance the efficiency of the financial and business operation of companies as it results to better accountability system, minimizing the risk of fraud or self dealing of company officers and have direct impact on companies’ share price , ability to attract and retain capital as demonstrated by some companies’ recent stock market performance.
