Corporate governance in Asia to improve, says association


Continued economic and competitive pressures will lead to better corporate governance in Asia in the next five to 10 years, says Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA) secretary general Jamie Allen.

“A lot of the action to practise corporate governance is due to economic and competitive pressures even though some of them are by choice,” he told Business Times in an interview held in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The success of corporate governance in any country is attributed to regulatory framework, enforcement, market discipline and corporate discipline, growing in tandem.
