Graft Cases Reflect On Corporate Governance


The recent high-profile financial scandals that rocked Namibia are a good indication that good corporate governance is not yet firmly entrenched in the country, Bank of Namibia (BoN) Governor Tom Alweendo said Tuesday.

Alweendo said this in an interview with New Era after presenting a paper to managers and professionals in Windhoek on the importance of Good Corporate Governance.

"When you read about the financial scandals in parastatals in the press, when you read about (chief executives or board members) not following procedures, then you know there is a problem of corporate governance," he said.
