Mass media and governance in Africa (III)


Opportunities for the African media to promote good governance:

Yet the strength of the African media is premised upon the very problems and challenges highlighted above. While appreciating the numerous setbacks placed the African media by colonialism and authoritarian post-independence governments, we also must appreciate the opportunities to develop resilience and learn to work in the most modest of circumstances and resources. Indeed nowhere in the world is there still so much potential lurking in the ranks of media practitioners.
