Shekhawat asks Public Sector to focus on corporate governance

Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Tuesday said public sector enterprises should usher in an era of responsible and accountable management and focus on corporate governance and benchmarking.

"The chief executives of central PSEs have to usher in an era of accountable and responsible management, effectively channelise the latent energies and potential of their executive team and lead their organisations on to the path of prosperity," he said, addressing a conference organised by Scope.

Shekhawat said sound corporate governance would further improve the functioning of CPSEs as that secures the commitment of all towards best practices, transparency and responsibility to all stakeholders.

"Taking up the task of benchmarking with both foreign and domestic competitiors would open the doors for bridging the gap and moving ahead with improved performance," he said.
