Companies must always try to act as decent corporate citizens
Companies should always try to act like decent corporate citizens, corporate governance leader Judge Mervyn King said in Port Elizabeth yesterday.
King, who was instrumental in setting up the King Report on Corporate Governance I & II said the aim of the report was to improve the way in which companies were steered.
He was in the city to address business leaders about the latest corporate governance developments on the national and international front.
“The intent of governments around the world is to compel us to steer our companies better,” King said. But the best practice in the world and the intent behind it was also subject to continuous change, he said.
