Global Corporate Governance Group Hosts Annual Meeting in Washington

More than 450 shareholder-rights experts from around the world will gather in Washington DC July 5-7 for the 11th annual conference of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN). The theme of the conference, which takes place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel at 2500 Calvert Street, NW, is Creating Value -- Building Trust. London- based ICGN is hosting the event in partnership with the Council of Institutional Investors.
Corporate governance guru Ira Millstein will kick off the first session, on Wednesday, July 5, at 4:30PM EDT, with a discussion of the unfinished agenda in the U.S. in the wake of the Sarbanes-Oxley corporate reform law. "Corporate governance starts where the law ends," says Millstein. "Sarbanes- Oxley does not answer the big questions that need to be tackled -- how we get business to do the right thing and investors to act like owners not traders."
