Of the nearly 1700 directors representing the S&P/TSX Composite Index, there is a small group of individuals that sit on five or more boards. The companies represented by these Elite directors form a highly connected network that has raised the bar for governance practices for the rest of the Composite. Drawing on the Clarkson Centre’s governance research over the past three years, this presentation shows that the Corporate Elite are a positive driving force in Canadian corporate governance.
